If barricades are placed on the edge of but in terrain, so attackers meet barricades on the edge for example "Marsh". what are the terrain effects for combat? Are attackers and defenders assaulting/defending barricades in difficult terrain or attackers in open but defenders in Difficult?

Either the barricades are in terrain or they are in the open (they are only markers, and the combat is deemed to take place on the front edge of the base defending the barricades).  If they are in the terrain, then both sides take terrain factors into account.  If they are in the open, then neither side takes the terrain factors into account.  There is no circumstance in which one side of the barricades can be in the terrain and the other side is not.

For combat purposes it is the edge of the base that is fighting that is used to determine whether a file is in terrain or not.  This is normally the front edge but can be a flank or rear edge.  If the files are not aligned, then it is possible for one file to be in terrain and the other file not to be.  If the files are aligned, then this is not possible.
