How many TuGs are usual at 10K

I noticed that the last 5-6 lists I have done at 10K all seem to have 9 TuGs and 3-5 Sugs. Most of the armies I see on Saturdays at our game club are similar. Oh, you sometimes see 11 TuGs, and one player this past week has 9 TuGs and 8 SuGs, for a total of 17 deployables.

Are these sizes more or less the same as one sees elsewhere? Larger? Smaller?

Personally, I tend to run a Talented CiC and 2-3 Competent subs with Professionals, or better command with Instinctive. Some people run a Talented Pro and 3 mediocre Pro subs. These choices tend to dictate army size a bit, but I am too cowardly to run all Competents, much less a mix of Competent and mediocre.
DO others agree?

In the UK 9 TUGs seems to be seen as the usual minimum for most, although there are exceptions. 11 TUGs seems to me to be popular. SUGs are not that common with quite a few armies having none or the odd one or two - again, inevitable exceptions.

Thanks, Nic. I run more Sugs than I consider ideal because I like non-shooty elephants, which really need a screen of infantry skirmishers unsee one is willing to see small units shot to bits before they can stomp the enemy into a bloody pulp.

I also just can't resist whatever skilled shooty light horse is on offer. You get the scouting benny AND useful shooting.

I ran a 13 TuG army at Brighton,  but this was Tribal and included 2 TuGs of 4 cavalry.

I did run a 3 TuG Parthian army at Brighton the year before.  This takes a lot of confidence, essentially a lot of horse archers with a few cataphracts.

Most armies are between 9 and 11 TuGs.  This is about right for a 6'x4' (180cm x 120cm) table.

13 TUGs!! Which armies are these? I used Pecheneg in one comp with 5 TUGs, 3 of them wagons, and 8 SUGs, Graeco-Bactrian with 9 TUGs (I had 7 x 6 strong cavalry TUGs) and 2 SUGs, and Post Mongol Russian with 9 TUGs and 1 SUG.

Most of my average cavalry TUGs I run 6 strong, maybe I'm doing something wrong... I'm considering running a full-fat, all skilled, all superior and exceptional Mongol Conquest with 7 TUGs, 0 SUGs in the next comp just to see how bad it is.

Ones with cheaper troops 

Greuthungi were one of them for example - 4 units warband types and 9 cavalry units a mix of 6's and 4's but mainly 6's.

Graeco-Bactrian with 9 TUGs (I had 7 x 6 strong cavalry TUGs) and 2 SUGs,

I had 11 TUGS in my 10k Graeco Bactrian - OK 3 were filler Indian bowmen but the other 8 were 6 base cavalry units.

@ Mr. Gaukroger- Sir, do you claim to have run Graeco- Bactrians with zero pikes and <shudder> zero elephants? HERESY!!! Which is fine, but why?  Personally, I find pachyderms hard to resist.

Haven't got the infantry and nellies in a cavalry army can, in my expereince, be a bit vulnerable so I gave them a miss this time.
