Para G2 on p. 143 states that a base that has not yet fought but has to be removed because another base in the UG cannot be removed, fights its combat immediately as it is removed.

The question is, if the base that has to be removed is from a second rank that adds a bonus to the front base, does this count as 'fighting' and so the file fights with the second base in place before removing the latter? Or is the second rank base removed before the first rank base fights?

Jilu

the fight happens immediately, ergo the file fights with the second rank.
The second rang is removed after the combat.

Thanks for the response.

While I think you have answered my question, my issue was not with the timing of the combat but rather with getting a ruling on whether or not the base in the second rank counted as fighting and so got to add its base support factor to the front base before being removed.

From what you have written, I understand the supporting rank does count as fighting and so gets to add to the combat of its file before being removed.
