The penultimate Ayyubid sultan of Egypt, al-Salih Ayyub (1240 CE to 1249 CE) significantly expanded the number of mamluks in the army taking advantage of a supply glut of Kipchak Turks caused by the Mongol expansion westwards which provided large numbers of slaves for the market. This set the Egyptian army on the road to mamluk rule.

I suggest that to represent this additional mamluks are allowed from his reign. However, as they are rapidly acquired I would limit them to being Average. Suggest 0-12.

Also I am not sure why the Turcomans and Sudanese archers are only allowed before 1244 CE, especially the former. I know the DBMM list has this restriction but haven't actually seen anything that supports it. Anyone any idea?

Having asked about this and such sages as Duncan Head saying they know of no reason I'd suggest dropping the restriction.

I couldn't fathom that restriction either.

Future proofing (or trying to) by building forces for use with multiple rule sets sure makes shopping lists harder.  Bedouin cavalry, under:

DBMM:  LH, 2 per base, no Cv(O) option
MeG: Cavalry, 3 per base, no skirmish cavalry version
AdlG: Has both options :(

Flexible cavalry so can be best done as 50% 3 per base, 50% 2 per base  ;D

For some of my bases I have 2 figures at the edges and a magnet and a smooth area in the centre with a spare figure on an individual steel sabot that can then convert the LH base into a Cav base. This was for 25mm but should work for 15mm as well.

Yup. Still needs both though.  As does ADLG :(

Actually, the more I think about this, the better that idea sounds.  No LH skirmishers in the Ayyubid / Fatimid armies in MeG so there's nothing to get confused with but particularly so with the units consisting of multiple pairs of bases of 2/3.
