Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for your reply. This clears up how to properly use these cards for me.

Good Afternoon. This question deals with the Flank March and Ambush cards and their usage. Are these cards inserted into the deck during the Pre Battle System deal or chosen by the player(s)? If by the players, who gets the first chance to use a card? It is unclear to me how this should be done.

Good Afternoon. I have a query concerning sequence of events in a charge. My wife and me are in the process of learning the rules through a Pacto game.
She had the initiative. During the Charge sub phase, she declared a charge against me (Tug vs. Tug). Now, I declared a charge with my Tug cavalry against her foot javelin-men (Sug). My cavalry have the Shoot and Charge ability. She can elect to skirmish or run away.
The question we have is: who shoots first? Do the javelin men go as these have the initiative, or do the Shoot and Charge cavalry go first? This does make a difference as the javelin men could potentially slow the cavalry (White or Black die).

Thank you for the clarification.

Good Afternoon. I have a new query for the Forum.
My wife and I are in the beginning of a game. This is her first time gaming MeG. She fields a Mid Republican Roman army versus my Pyrrhic army. She declared a charge with her Shoot and Charge cavalry against my Greek Shoot and Charge cavalry. The charge started five (5) base-widths apart. I did not declare a counter charge as I am under the impression you do not fight in this instance. I know this seems wrong, but that seems to be the wording in the book.
My questions are as follows:
1). Can one shoot when the charge occurs outside the base-width distance for javelins (2)?

2). Same as above except in a counter charge move?

3). Does one fight if counter charging?

Good Morning. My wife and I now understand the ruling. Thank you for your support and understanding of our problem.

So no SuGs or Flexible Cavalry may be placed in the two (2) base widths PAST the five (5) base widths? Is this correct?

The flank sector is 7 BWs (2/3 of 10 BWs = 6.6 rounded up is 7 BWs)  The way rule PBS 5.B reads regarding deployment of SUGs in an unsecured flank sector leaves the space greater than 5 BWs from the table edge but less than 7 BWs from the table edge as an open space in which no unit groups may be placed. Is this a correct interpretation of this rule?

In my Magna game the flank sections are 7 BWs wide and only one is secure. According to rule PBS 5.B all UGs must be deployed a minimum of 6 BWs from the center line. Also SUGs are the only units which may deploy outside of the center section of the battlefield. SUGs which do so may deploy within 5 BWs of the side table edge.

Does this rule mean that SUGs can be deployed no closer than 5 BWs to the side table edge? (Measured from the center section boundary toward the side table edge)  OR  Does it mean that SUGs cannot be deployed in the zone measuring between 5 BWs and 7 BWs from the side table edge? ( Starting at the side table edge and measuring toward the center section boundary)

Thank you Antoine for your prompt reply. I thought that was the case. Being new to the rule system, I want to know my family are playing right.
Respectfully,
Peter.

Rules Queries and Clarifications / Breaking up blocks.
January 04, 2024, 08:41:00 PM
Good Evening. As the above subject tag states, Can one break a Block back into separate TuGs voluntarily? I understand one can do this by a simple 900 turn. Is it up to the player or once in a block the TuGs must stay in this formation?
In my last game, I had three (3) TuGs of phalangites in a block. They charged a smaller two (2) block of Carthaginian infantry with a Tug of Iberian infantry in support. The Iberians and one Tug of Carthaginians broke. Can the block be broken to pursue as per the rules, or must the block stay together?

Good Morning. Thank you for the clarification.

Good Evening. Thank you for your prompt response. Can I turn 900 and then evade? I think this is allowed as per 3.2.3 on page 66 of the Maximus and Magna rulebook.

Good Evening. My son and I are playing another game of MeG. At the moment, I have a Flexible Tug of Italian Cavalry that is in Skirmish formation. My son has a Loose TuG of Punic cavalry about to charge my flank.
My question is, can I run away with the SuG even though I cannot roll any shooting dice (UG not in the frontal zone)?
