What would be the correct basing group for a Macedonian Phalanx please?

I have 24 bases with 4 figs per base.

I'm guessing 2 wide 4 deep per block?

Hi All

Newbie here.

Just for confirmation, when it comes to fighting in Magna, do you count the unit (Say 6 bases) as a total and just roll one die or does each frontline base have its own die throw?

Hi All

I'm new to MeG but not wargaming, having multiple periods in my collection, Napoleonic, ACW, WW2.

I have owned a Macedonian 15mm Army for nearly forty years, and recently decided to buy a Persian Army to challenge them. Part of this process was to choose a set of rules and MeG was the one I selected.

I have a couple of Noob questions as I am starting to base my new fellas.

I understand 4 figs for close, 3 loose, and 2 skirmishers, but these following terms confuse me as to what amount of figures should be used and which formations they can be used in?

CAVALRY
Formed Loose  = My guess A MIX OF 3 figs & 2?
Drilled loose     =  4 & 3?
Formed Flexible = 4 & 3?
Tribal loose        = 3 & 2?

INFANTRY
Drilled loose    = 4 & 3?
Formed Loose  = 3 & 2?
Tribal loose      = 3 & 2?
Drilled close     = 4 on all?
Tribal close       = 4?
Skirmishers      = 2?

Sorry if it seems obvious, but I don't want to mess up basing a new army for a dedicated rule set.
