So just checking as this came up in a game this week.

I have the Updated reprint 2021 version of the hardback rules and and I can't find in Chapter 8 where the Invader is described as the Active player for turn 1 (though it is still implied in the glossary on page 217)?

Is this fixed for the Pacto PDF as I've yet to pull the trigger on that?

I know I know now, but I was about to ask a new question on the forum re this and just thought I'd do a search and found this 2020 subject.....

Perhaps this should be sticky'd by an Admin?

We'd done the pre-battle phase and we're already to go and in the 2021 reprint the turn sequence has nothing to say on the subject....

My Early Imperial Romans were invading so we went first and his chariots were the other side of the wood he'd put down.  Romans win in the middle and by the time his chariots turned up it was time to take the wounded chiefs home...

Great game but I need to worry about those pesky chariots.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for responding. Attached is an image of where I'm at.  I have the following luxuries:
2 Competent Professional and 2 Mediocre commanders
2 Superior legions.
The rest of the list pretty much is the minimum. I've no problem with that and as a newbie it keeps it simple it's just the drop from 3500 to 3000 gets rid of bolt throwers, caltrops etc.

I just want to make sure I'm not making a schoolboy error and will have to sit at the back of the room on the day.

Thank you for your patience

Joken.

nikgaukroger,

apologies for being a pain but before I pull the trigger for SkullRollers Saturday & Sunday can I just check that I have the right Early Imperial Roman Pacto list (2516) MeG-Pacto-Army-Lists-2-Classical-Era-2023-01?

The Roman list has as a mandatory minimum of 2 cavalry, 6 legion and 4 auxilia UGs which is essentially 3000pts if the legions are 2 bases and the cavalry and auxilia are 1.

Is that correct, as at 3000pts the minimum appears to be the list unless I go for brittle 1 base legions which kind of goes against what the army's supposed to be about?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm thinking of going to this; it'll be my 1st tournament.

Just checking that this will use yet to be released Pacto lists (and list builder?)?

Hi,

Just got the rules and have had my 1st game with my 15mm Early Imperial Romans.

I'm focusing my list on the 9th Hispana Legion (of 'Lost Eagle' fame) operating in Britain in the 1st Century CE and was wondering about expanding into some allied light troops.

The Imperial list suggests Batavian German which seems OK as the Legion was raised on the Rhine but once operating in Britain is this likely with Gaul just across the channel and the possible use of British tribes conquered/allied to Rome?

As the Ancient British list allows for Roman allies might the Romans have taken British skirmishing Cavalry, Slingers etc?

I'm not a competition player so was wondering how this type of list blending is treated by the community.

1st post so please be gentle.

.... and my 15mm Imperial Romans have started the march along Watling Street to Magna via Pacto.

Mad Lemmy I'd welcome some training games in the New Year
