Hi All

Does this rule apply during a Pursuit move? (with all the other criteria being met of course)

Thanks

Tarnowski1,  you are incorrect the skirmishers being directly behind the Blue infantry and touching the rear bases of the UG are 1.5 BW from the Red infantry and so "In Range and within shooting range" they just have no LOS due to the friendly infantry so it meets the criteria set out in 1.1 & 1.2 the rules purely discuss range.

therefore when the blue infantry break off and move through the skirmishers the red troops are now in LOS.

Francis Small, No the Skirmishers are not moving back, they are being moved through and displaced forward 1BW to allow the Blue troops complete their 2BW break off move

Break off move occures

Hi all and Happy New Year.

I need help from the hivemind to ensure I have interpreted the move through skirmishers and displacement rule correctly. The situation is as follows:-

A block of 2 UG's of 6 bases Drilled Infantry, in two files and three bases deep, have a 9 base UG of Javelin skirmishers in contact with their rear.

The two UG's are in melee contact with a UG of 8 bases.

The Javelin skirmishers are 1.5 BW from Red UG's therefore within shooting range but obviously blocked by friendly troops.

During step 5.4 the Blue troops play a Break Off move (taking KaB's) and move through the skirmishers 2 BW, which means the front bases of the Drilled Infantry don't clear the front edge of the Skirmishers.

Based on my interpretation of rule H 3.1, 3.2 and universal rule 16, which only talks about range not line of sight, The break off move would be allowed as the Skirmishers started within range of the Red Troops therefore where not displaced into range only closer but now visable to the Red Troops ending up half a base width from the Red Block of Troops and the Blue UG's behind.

I tried to include images however the system would'nt let me add them.

Thanks

I think I've been doing this wrong, I have been setting up in the centre 10 BW's from each table edge with only SUG's allowed in the outer 5 BW's in an unsecure flank.

As I understand the posts above UG's can be deployed up to 5 BW's from the table edges if there is no secure flanks and 5 BW's / 10 BW's if a secure flank exists.

is that correct?

Thanks Richard, It certainly wasnt a Cheesy move as the SUG had to move or it would have been destroyed by the Friendly charging TUG, I suppose it is not a situation which occures frequently.

Hi Nik

I get that but the opportunity to reorg would stll be available to me in the next movement phase after my General has reloaded his cards. I guess if a general still has unused cards at this stage of the turn they could be used to reorg.

G'Day All

Had an interesing scenario in a solo game I was playing, whereby to allow a TUG to charge a SUG used a white card to move forward out of the way of the charge, which subsequently placed the SUG in shooting range of a UG in the shooting phase. Could the SUG now shoot at this UG?

I figured that it could not as in the normal course of a turn a UG has to move into position in one turn and then shoot in the following turn, ie cannot move and shoot in the same turn so as the UG moved in the current turn it could not shoot this turn.

This lead me to a second question being can the SUG move in the movement phase conducting an equivlent of a limited advance or turn similar to the actions allowed after an evade. Again I ruled that it could not as the unit had already conducted a prompted action this turn.

Was this correct? Discuss  :D

G'day Richard

I figured that was the case, and have been playing it as such. However I have been pondering why stage 5.5 exists in the turn sequence, and can only assume that the reason is to allow UG's that have been hit in the flank or rear as a result of a pursuit move to turn and face the enemy before the combat takes place in the following charge phase. Otherwise I don't see why you would wait to do micro moves at this stage. (unless I'm completely missing something)

G'day All

Are MF1 & 2 moves only allowed at stage 5.5 in the turn sequence or can they be done as a prompted action during the movement phase.

Part 2 to the question, as I understand the rule a single card is played which then allows one of the following:
1 All Bases from a single file can be moved into another file to close a gap or create a new supporting file .
2 Move one or more bases from different files to create a single supporting file or close a single gap or add to a single file.

So If you need to move bases into several different files (for what ever reason) you need to pay a command card for each base moved into a different file.

Is this correct?

Hi everyone
A couple of questions with regards to SUGS and generals
1)   When a TUG is being screened by a friendly SUG moves does an Enemy SUG block the move if only the screening SUG would move into its area or does the fact that it is being pushed by a TUG force the enemy SUG to be displaced?

2)   TUGS can move through infantry SUGS, however cannot move through Cavalry SUGS. However, as I understand 9.3 K (page 114) a TUG can displace a SUG (does not specify type) so a TUG instead of moving through a Cavalry TUG can move into the Cavalry SUG's location and displace its position behind, in front, or to the side of the TUG as long as it meets the conditions of K1.2 & 1.2. Is my understanding of this, correct?

3)   Elephant TUG's can only group with infantry etc, however can an Elephant TUG Push/Pull a cavalry SUG along with it. I cannot see any rule which prevents this. Is this correct?

4)   If an instinctive General loses all UG's in his command he is still "Alive" draws cards etc, if he joins another command's UG can he fight in the front rank and provide the +1 bonus (hoping for a glorious death to cover the shame of the loss of his command)?

and lastly can he use any of his red or yellow cards to remove wounds from the UG he is now fighting with. In a recent game I allowed it because the way I see it the general in his quest for vengeance, glory, redemption etc is motivating gathering and forcing the troops around him with his actions. However, an official ruling would be good?

Thanks in advance for your replies and my apologies if these have been asked before
