Well, now I have two vaccine doses, as do several friends, looks like we will be getting to playing some more again here in sunny Austin, TX. Probably will start in April!

Hello all, I have just picked up the MEG Compendium and I am getting ready to purchase a army or armies but I have a few questions:
1. What is the most popular scale for MEG?
2. What is the most played armies and their enemies?
3. Is MEG compatible for solo play?
Thanks in advance for any and all replies!

1. In the US 15mm is by far the most popular scale for ancients play like MeG. There is a following of 28mm for Hail Caesar. But these are generalizations and things may be quite different in your area.
2. Classical era ancients are probably the most popular. That is Alexander and the Successors and the Punic Wars. Again, things may vary a lot regionally.
3. I hear that it is, but have not done it myself.

We play multi-player more than one-on-one actually. We pretty much do it straight. The CinC play decides which player will take an action and spend a card. Still only one action per turn per side. If we are ever able to meet in person again, maybe we can try the multiple actions per side.

Kentucky joins the fray. Just ordered the Rules Compendium Boxed set and hope I can get some local interest going.

Welcome aboard, Tom.

You can give them any stats you want in the spreadsheet. If you think Peltasts should be Flexible then select that from the dropdown. If you think they should have Short Spear then select that. It will calculate the points.

I think one page that details all the differences of Pacto, Magna and Maximus would be very useful. Having to turn to all the different parts of the rules and QRSs is somewhat time consuming.

Whoops did I.
Still it gets across the point about any basing working.

Tomorrow I am doing a Pacto instruction game solo slowly with my thinking and moves.
Let's hope I get it all right!!  Its nt so easy doing these things solo.

Haha, I bet not. I will really be happy to see the Pacto video game, just to be sure we are doing it right.

And the use of the individually based 28mm each as an element is a great idea. And also the notion of two individual figures make an element, so remove one when it takes a wound. Excellent!

I had been thinking about how to do some of the Fantasy 28mm to get larger battles.

This is a really good and useful video. However, when discussing Pacto, Simon seems to show that the measuring is with BW rather than 1/2BW.

It frequently comes up in our games. But we are really relaxed about it, thinking about it as Simon suggests. If an enemy commander goes into the front rank to fight, we always allow the enemy to send his to the front rank in response, before the dice are rolled, regardless of who selected the file to fight.

I almost feel that if your general doesn't also go into the front rank then your unit should suffer a KaB test! (just kidding,  ;))

Why can they not shoot over 2 ranks of spear? P. 158 F: Overhead Firing has no such restrictions.

Two ranks of bow CAN shoot over two ranks of spear. So 50% spear and 50% bow works ok in TuGs of 8. If grouping in 6s you probably don't want mixed TuGs.

Yeah, my problem isn't acquiring more lead, it's painting the ones I have!

Thanks for that. Makes it a lot easier. One thing, I cant see the points per unit on any army list. I must be losing it!

Points are calculated on the Army Builder, rather than in the lists. This allows for more robust points system with optional characteristics and point multipliers, and also it means that if point corrections need to be made then it can be done in one place without the need to update and re-post dozens or even hundreds of lists.

MeG Fantasy / Re: Tékumel for MeG

Three of us are now actively working on the lists for this setting. I have also mentioned MeG to the Tekumel Facebook group.

I hope we will be ready to share the lists and rules supplements in the next few weeks as a work in progress.
