I think leaving it out is valid; especially when you have the stand-alone rules then there is no confusion about what is missing and what is not. I find if I just concentrate on the QRS for PACTO it limits my options so I don't worry about what the unit could do in other iterations. [Just a little miffed about my Egyptian spear units with supporting bowmen in front not being able to exchange ranks to avoid a charge on the bow ].

Did Pacto in 28mm with both Impetus and MeG basing. (I eventually rebased all for MeG as works for both).  I think the doubling will look much better in this scale on the table but really think this may turn it into a Magna game (?) - at least the table size will be increased. I will try both out when the stand-alone Pacto rules become available.

A little confused about Romans from the Mid Republican Roman list. Am I correct: 2 bases of Hastati in the front rank, 2 bases of Principes in the next rank then one Triari behind that. Does that Triari have to spend a card to change which file it is behind?  Not quite Magna, but in Maximus would the 6 unit Romans be in three ranks, or two, or can you choose? Thank you!

A unit that is charged in the flank that is already in combat - can it skrimish or run away from this new threat (assuming it is of that type that usually may)?

Cannot ever send commands to any units, even paying an extra colored card, correct?
Cannot fight in any combat?

I had a cavalry unit attack the flank of a chariot TUG. The Chariot was also engaged to it's front.  On the next turn an enemy infantry TUG declared a charge on the cavalry unit. This would hit the cavalry in flank.  Assuming the Cavalry was missile focused, can it run away from a flank charge if already engaged or does it need to take it's lumps?

I have 3 TUGS adjacent to each other. The center and left unit is an average loose Egyptian Javelin, the right unit is a devastating charge Gasgan  mercenary. The center unit is engaged with a Hittite Chariot (2 bases). In the charge phase can the Gasgan charge the Hittite chariot (frontally as did not start on flank),by turning 90 or so degrees? They do start the turn in corner to corner contact and I am using the other javelin as support . Just something that has not come up for me before. Thanks for the help.

I did decide to convert my Impetus bases to MeG (can still use for Impetus - just uses more figures now though). Though I really didn't realize what an absolute pain that is!
For 28mm I think Impetus works best for PACTO using two bases to represent a 2 base unit. That way you can mark one wound and remove a base with a skull.  You need a pretty darn big table as the BW is now 120mm (double) - say an 8x6 table.
[I bought a mousepad map 6x3 and cut a 2x3 for my 15mm PACTO and a 4x3 for my 28mm PACTO and also have a separate 6x4 for my 28mm Magna as rebasing made this more flexible]

For 28mm MAGNA I would consider using 1 Impetus base as a four base unit. The only difficulty is that as you remove rear ranks with the first two skulls you won't be able to adjust the depth. You could use a skirmish base if you put the correct amount of figures on it I suppose, but not useful then for Impetus. So a 6 unit pike block would be 1 Impetus base plus an Impetus skirmish base in the rear.

Maybe someone has a better suggestion for Magna and Maximus?

Bruce H. in Madison WI. RN so got vaccinated in Jan. Just gaming with my son right now. PACTO 15mm Biblicals, PACTO 28mm Burgundian/French -maybe can do MAGNA with these as Impetus bases, and yet to put together my 20mm PACTO Carthage/Rome figs and expand them to MAGNA.

That decoder ring is something you need to hold onto! Does it work for all rule sets? Maybe for income tax forms?
