(I really was unsure of where to pla

ce this so mods/admin, please feel free to move to to the correct space)

Hi Folks,

I'm looking for accounts of the The Battle of Montlhéry 1465, during the War of the Public Weal in English (yep, I'm aware of Wikipedia  :) ).

Better still, a wargames scenario of some sort that I could maybe translate- that to go along beside my research?

If you can help- or are exceptionally good at translating French, please do get in touch. with via PM where I can send you my email address if necessary.

have the Historic'one, Les Batailles Oubliees, Montlhery 1465 book (in French)- if any intrepid French speakers would be happy to translate (yeah, I know that is a very long shot but I'm desperate!). If you can help- or are exceptionally good at translating French, please do get in touch. with via PM where I can send you my email address if necessary.  :)

L.

Thanks and apologies for not replying sooner. ididn't receive the notification. (I probably need to have another look at my settings)

Thank you for your kind words Lanceflint. I picked up some of the Foundry Sassanids (sculpted by the Perry's some 20 plus years ago); as well as being superb sculpts, surprisingly large they will make excellent lightly armed Dailamite and/or Kurdish skirmisher types. Pictures to follow when they're painted up! :)

I'm finally making a start on my Late Sassanid army and starting small with a unit of Daylamite Light Infantry which can, with the removal of the main command models, also serve as Kurdish skirmishers too.

As usual, there are a more pictures and discussion re: Daylamites in Sassanian armies on my blog here:
https://justaddwater-bedford.blogspot.com/2026/05/sassanid-daylamite-light-infantry.html

I've based the unit on an image I had saved from the net but have now lost any reference to (if anyone can help with the reference I'd be grateful?)

Much more to come soon.

The Battle of Cunaxa 401 BC, Battle Day In The North, Society of Ancients- A visual Walkthrough

hi folks, I'm afraid i didn't have the time to do a full write up of the extension of the SOA Battle Day; the Society of Ancients, Battle Day in the North due to quite extreme pressures of late.

I did however take a heck of a lot of photos on the day.

Please feel free to pop over to my blog for more visual stimulation! :D

Hi,

I've taken pictures of all the miniatures in the unit, now on single bases so if you are of a mind to, you can see the miniatures from three angles which ought to display them nicely as single pieces.

As usual, if you want to see more pictures, please head over to my Just Add Water Blog here:

I wasn't at all sure where exactly to put this post so I'm hoping it is in the correct place. I do paint, almost exclusively, ancients so hopefully this is OK?

Hi,

I've received a number of emails via my Just Add Water, Miniature Painting and Wargaming blog asking me how to follow things now that Blogger have removed the normal avenues of "following". (They actually removed the "Follow" feature some yerars ago now so this post is in answer to the many emails I have received of late).

I have downloaded the "Follow It" app which will hopefully help anyone who's still interested in long form posts to follow the machinations of my hobby blog. Please see image below for placement of app on blog.

I hope that all makes sense? If not, please post here and ask away.

My question, for once, is a simple on for the hive mind.....

Can the Eureka Miniatures Chinese Warring States range be used as early Han Chinese?

Thanks and I (hopefully) look forward to the replies :>)

Hi,

I'm putting together a Timurid army for a special event and I want to do the thing from scratch!

I'm quote desperate to identify the codes for the following pictures of Essex Miniatures Horses, most of which are on not the website and it's an awful mess trying to figure out what is what from a written description. Apologies for the size of some of the pictures, they're the best I could obtain.

Cheers

So........ the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge ended on March 20th.

For those who expressed a wish to see the army arrayed- here it is.....

Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge 2023 Wrap Up!

I want to thank everyone who contributed to The Challenge this year and also make a bit of an apology. I didn't manage to make half as many comments this year (still in therapy and that's taking up a lot of time- without denting my pain ting time though!). For that I'm sorry as there was a fine array of beautifully painted miniatures etc on display every day when I took a quick peek.

I've decided to leave out the incidental items painted to change things up a little as I view my main project as, well erm..... my main project!

The Thematic Byzantines were a lot of fun to paint up- like I have alluded to earlier, they are one of my dream armies that I just never got around to when I was a few years younger.

Please feel free to hop on over to my Just Add Water Blog for full sized pictures/files here:

For many more pictures and a detailed description of the arms and armour plus tactical use of the Nikephorian) Kataphractoi please feel free to pop over to my Just Add Water blog here
http://justaddwater-bedford.blogspot.com/2023/03/byzantinetagmatic-nikephorian.html:

Almost certainly the most attractive of all the units in an early 10th CE Thematic Byzantine army are, of course, the Kataphractoi. Fully enclosed in many layers of armour, invincible like a middle ages version of the battle tank. Well, not quite but that is certainly the impression they were meant to have on the enemy. One Arab soldier poet described the Byzantine horses as having no legs!

Modelling and Eye Candy / Anglo Danish Command Bases
February 28, 2023, 12:55:25 PM
These little bases were put together as I took a breather for a week during The Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge which I have been enjoying. The idea of punctuating the Thematic Byzantine posts with some smaller mini projects has really helped me keep focused on the main item and if the weather changes so I can get my bloomin' varnishing done I will have posted three mini projects as well as five Thematic cavalry posts by Monday next week. Not bad going for someone who usually paints at a glacial pace!

There are many more pictures of each of the three bases on my Just Add Water Blog here:
https://justaddwater-bedford.blogspot.com/2023/02/anglo-danish-command-bases.html

Here's the type of thing you can expect:
