Title: Later Crusader Mix foot
Post by: jfas on December 19, 2019, 07:56:57 AM
Hi all

I am interested in making a Later crusader army (Richard the lion hart) and i am a bit mixed up on the number o bases o mix foot i can take.

1. can i take 8x6 tugs (3 spear in front 3 crossbow back) using the 24 crossbow men and 24 spear men

2. can i take 6x6 tugs (3 spear in front 3 crossbow back) using the 18 protected crossbow men and 18 spear men

3. can i take only 4x6 tugs using only the 24 crossbow men.

i am really mixed up with the mixed foot  :o :o :o :o

The mixed formations replace the 6-24 Crossbowmen so if you choose that option you can have 6-24 bases of the mixed formation - i.e. your option 3.

The Spearmen are not affected and you must still field 12-32 of those.

Nick

Thanks for that but the notes mixed me up as it says the taht if the mix tug is used the min and max of the spearmen is reduced by half the bases used in the mixed tug ?

Apologies missed the note  :-[

QuoteIf mixed TuGs of Spearmen and Crossbowmen are taken, then the minimum and maximum number of spearmen is reduced by half the number of bases in the mixed TuGs.

OK, this means that you reduce the Spearmen min and max relative to the number of bases of mixed troops you have taken.

Therefore, for example, if you take 12 bases of mixed TUGs (2x6) the Spearmen minimum is reduced to 6 and the maximum to 26. If you take the maximum of 24 bases of mixed troops the Spearmen minimum is now 0 and the maximum 20.

But the number of bases allowed in the mixed TUGs is the number of Crossbowmen bases, 6-24, as these are the ones that are replaced.

Think I've got it right now  :o

Exactly so Nik.
Simpler than it reads I must admit.
