in the 2020 Characteristics for Devastating Chargers
They have forced charges against enemy TuGs directly ahead within 3BW unless they have missile weapons other than Charge-Only shooters (so these are still subject to forced charges). Those with such missile weapons can free charge.
There is no equivalent for Charging Lancers so bow armed charging lancers will still have to pay not to charge.
Query about the characteristics for charging lancers.
Charging Lancers are covered in the charges section of the rules and if missile armed (other than charge only) do not have to forced charge.
It is not in the Characteristics document as Charging Lancers is a weapon type and not a characteristic 8)
What i'm looking for is the reference to that statement. I can't see it clearly defined in the charge section.
Definition of missile armed ... or what will be missile focused in the compendium as more accurate.
See glossary.
Si
I think what we have here is a temporary issue caused by the transition to the upcoming Compendium.
IIRC the bit that defines missile armed CL/DC as not forced chargers was a 2019 rule change and the relevant document is no longer on the web - it was with the 2019 playing materials but isn't in the 2020 stuff on the new website.
I can state with certainty that it is the way the rules are written for the Compendium as I've helped proof read the draft 8)
I did a patch to cover it in the existing glossary - term caging to missile focused is all.

Missile Armed
Troops that have both a missile weapon and skilled, experienced or unskilled shooting. Therefore, the integral shooter characteristic alone does not count, nor does charge-only shooting as designed to shoot immediately before combat, rather than sustained shooting.
