Title: Feign flight
Post by: Rino on November 22, 2019, 01:25:02 PM
The feign flight is for sug as well as for tug that are cav flexible according to definition:
3 questions:
1/ I cannot find the option for the tug on the army xls sheet. Something I missed?
2/ a troop with feign flight option for its army list can keep that competence when used as ally, right?
3/ a few armies do not have feign flight, like the hunnic for instance. I believed that Aetius didn't want to push it's advantage after the Catalonia field battle fearing the flight of the Huns was feigned. Did I get it wrong?

1/  A bug in the army builder.  Being corrected.
2/  Yes.
3/  No evidence from primary sources to support this. Actually Jordanes reports that Atilla "did nothing cowardly, like one that is overcome, but with clash of arms sounded the trumpets and threatened an attack".  He goes on to say "Aetius feared that if the Huns were totally destroyed by the Goths, the Roman Empire would be overwhelmed and urgent advised [Thorismund] to return to his own dominions.

To be honest, I think we might have given Feigned Flight to almost every army and I wouldn't have had a problem with that.  In the end we tried to limit it to armies where there was some evidence that it was a tactic that they used, either from a battle account or from some other source.
