Title: Chariot movement
Post by: jwb14feb on November 20, 2019, 10:54:46 PM
Am I correct in assuming that the rules suggest that Sumerian battle cars with four small solid, non-sprung wheels pulled by onagers are thought to be as fast as new Kingdom Egyptian Light Chariots rolling on wide wheels pulled by horses?  From my understanding, experimental archaeology rebuilding and testing these two devices showed significant difference in speed and maneuverability.
Thanks.

Nope - the Sumerian carts are Close formation not Loose and so have a slower base move, and being Tribal as opposed to Drilled are much worse at manoeuvre.

Thankyou for the prompt response, your answer makes sense.  I note that the Akkadians are close but the other army lists have them at loose, hence my confusion.  Cheers

Presumably that'd be the 2019 lists? The 2020 lists put up yesterday (https://mortem-et-gloriam.co.uk/meg/) have them as Tribal Close. Or have we missed updating some?

Was just going to write and apologise; I am reading the wrong lists, downloaded the new ones directly.

Nah, I'm stuck in a hotel for work - reading the forums and sticking my oar in helps pass the time  ;D
