Title: Block charge costs
Post by: DracoStandard on November 14, 2019, 05:25:36 PM
A couple of questions on block charges

'free charges'
can you have a block free charge?  If so does it cost any cards? (eg 1 colour to be a block, then free for all)
If so - do all TUGs in the block have to have a free charge target?

Push Through fire

Assuming you have a block charge and have taken some slows

Do you need to pay extra (ie the block move card) to push through?  Some have said that they are already a block for that phase, so no extra block tax.

If one TUG is slowed, and you dont pay to push through, do they all stop with the slowed TUG?  I assume not as a block move does not need to end as a block.

assuming you do have to pay an extra block move tax as above...If your block is a monster block, and your general is at one end, can they pay to push a TUG through, even if it is out of range of the normal push through range as they are actually moving as part of the block?

Further - or if you monster block charge, and the end TUG is slowed, can they still be pushed through as part of the block, even though they are out of push through range?

(guess whose first game is against wall to wall bow this weekend :))

Since I am umpire, here is my response.

You cannot have a block Free Charge.  You can pay for a block charge even if it would normally be free (usual two cards) in order to only need one card to prompt through fire.

To prompt through fire after having made a block charge requires only the one card.  If you don't press through fire, then all UGs in the block are slowed by the same as the UG with the greatest slowing effect.   The general only has to be within range of the block, not within range of all the UGs in the block.

See integrated clarries ...

Q&A: Free Charges as a Block
A free charge is not a Prompted Action and therefore cannot be upgraded to a Block Charge.  Instead the charge must be declared as a prompted charge and then can be made into a block charge with an extra card.

Q&A: Prompting through Fire as a Block Charge
Once declared as a block charge it is now a single charge: you have combined them.  You can prompt 1BW back for any or all within the block with a single green card, and so on; but they are all slowed by the most slowed UG in the block.
