Would someone please direct me towards or post detailed information about how one gets a benefit for being UPHILL during charge and melee combat.
I understand the rule about Crest.
I understand the rule about shooters behind a unit that is UPHILL.
My questions go towards:
Is UPHILL by unit or element.
IF an element of a unit is uphill must it be the entire element and part of an element or the entire unit.
Does uphill apply if the front rank of a unit is NOT uphill but the rear rank(s) that provide support are uphill. (This is similar to being in terrain and its effects).
Must a unit be uphill and NOT move to get the UPHILL bonus? IE not charge/counter charge or intercept?
IF the UPHILL bonus applies to units that are charging must the fight occur uphill or could a unit charge down off a hill and get the bonus.
AS YOU CAN SEE its a small but complex issue that needs clarification for me at least.
Thanks,
Ludwig Herrmann
It is the location of the files front edge that determines if it is uphill. It is determined file by file, rear ranks are irrelevant. There is no bonus for charging off a hill.
The edge must be entirely on the hill to claim the combat advantage.
