Fanatics don't make rout moves. But the Characteristic doesn't say if Pursuers still pursue?
Simon - what is the intention?
Richard
Lol, fanatic don't rout because they have to be axe diced until the very last one to break. So there is nothing left for a rout.
(Unless the fanatics are not fanatics anymore - dead general / shaman for instance)
For pursuing why should they be any different from other units?
I think being pursued is the issue...if they die to a man (base) do the victors get to /have to follow up
My bad, I read it wrong!
Similar case was unit fighting from front and side routing.
Iirc it explodes without rout move.
The winning units should pursue ahead.
I believe it would be the same case here, right?

Wait, a unit fighting in two directions DOESN'T do a rout move? oh. I must have missed this in the rules. Can you give me the reference? Would be super handy, as I haven't seen it run like that (whoops!).
That's because it's not in the rules (well, not in the folder) ;)

p.2 of this. Looking forward to getting all the changes and clarifications rolled into one book (not folder!)
The fanatic characteristic point 2 says they are deemed "lost/broken" when they all die, and point 3 "once lost they then count as a broken UG" so wouldn't that mean that their opponents have to pursue because "Other UGs make pursuit moves if any enemy they are fighting to their front break, for whatever reason, - including therefore those who have killed their opponent's bases in contact this phase." p. 96.

Just removed from the table and the opponents have the
option to pursue straight ahead.

The rules for pursuit moves say (C2, page 96):
Quote
Other UGs make Pursuit moves if any enemy they are fighting to front break, for whatever reason, this phase ...
Therefore, it is the breaking and not rout move that creates a pursuit.
Fanatics losing their last base are deemed as lost/broken.
So, IMO, there is a pursuit.
There is pursuit as written - killing the last remaining fragments of the force.
I am ok with either answer in theory. So chose not to have an exception.
