Title: Artillery as a SUG - evading
Post by: craig.w on July 04, 2019, 02:58:48 AM
The last of my Italian wars inspired questions (I hope). I've never used artillery and I'm a bit confused.

Does it ever say in the rules that artillery is a SUG or only on the army builder (I noticed that on p.36 on the original army builder artillery weren't SUGs - "SUGs, Artillery, Expendables")? The references to 'Skirmishers' on p.31 seem to be intended for infantry and  cavalry running around.

If it is a SUG:
- does that mean I can/must skirmish, run away, meaning that light artillery get to move but heavy guns just sit there?
- can it be be TUGed, displaced and everything else that you can do with a SUG?
- then the distinction between foot SUGs and artillery on p.66 2.2 is redundant because on p.28 it says that artillery are 'foot'. (Maybe it should be "infantry SUGs"?)

Thanks,

Craig

Yes they are SuGs and can therefore only stand if they have barricades - a good benefit for taking them.
Or if charged by SuGs.

have a look to some late medieval descriptions. Surprising for modern persons, artillerymen of that time were in no way soldiers nor even any kind of military . they were civilian expert technicals, expensive , worksmen and had a tendency to run wen threatened , which is IMO adequately portrayed  8)

but it is only highlight, for the game Si is the author ....
