Title: Killing Piles softly...
Post by: mad lemmey on July 01, 2019, 01:07:36 PM
If you hit a wall of pikes, two wide, many units, and kill one file from a pike block, can the pikes continue to fight one base wide, or do they have to leave a base in the denuded file and remove from the other file?
It was game five, we couldn't remember...

As the various requirements for formations do not apply when you are in combat a pike unit can indeed be reduced to a single file - as can any unit.

It may be prevented by the not breaking contact with enemy (if at all possible) rule, but that is a different thing.

Pikes have no choices.
Once in they are all engaged.
If 4 bases happen to die in one file then indeed it will be single file and 4 ranks deep for a while ... but probably not for long !!

Is it just me, or does the title of this thread sound like an ad for hemorrhoid cream?
