Title: Mercenary Greek - error with Bactrian Revolt dates?
Post by: Olympian Games on June 23, 2019, 02:33:28 PM
Is there an error with the dates ( "325 to 323 BCE" for the Bactrian Revolt section of the Mercenary Greek list (Greece & Macedon book)?

The historical notes say the Bactrian Revolt occurred after Alexander's death.  Since Alexander died in 323, so the dates put the revolt BEFORE he died.  So shouldn't the dates be 323 to [a later date] BCE"?

The revolt actually started before he died. The revolt gathered momentum after the news of Alexander's death.  It ended after he died in Autumn 323 with a massacre of (at least some of) the mercenaries by the Macedonians.

I'll look to clarify the notes.
