Title: SuG stopping a forced charge
Post by: ianhambly on February 05, 2026, 01:11:46 PM
Please can it be confirmed that a SuG in front of a TuG with a possible forced charge, eg Charging Lancer with enemy TuG directly ahead within 3 BW, does not stop the charge.
Additionally, I presume it does not matter whether the SuG is friendly or not.

Correct. 5.C (page 57)

Enemy SuGs must respond as normal.  Friendly SuGs are burst through and removed.

It varies whether the charger is a friend.

If charger is from same army as the SUG, then the SUG does not stop the forced charge and is trampled to death (and removed from game) when chargers move.

If charger is from SUG's opponent's army, then the SUG is a target for the forced/free charge (reminder : a SUG does not a trigger a forced charge from a TUG, although TUG may choose to declare the charge for free) and the charge is resolved normally.

If the TuG behind the SuG is within 3BW directly ahead then it is also a target for the forced charge (as well as the SuG).  You must charge both (unless you Hold).
In the past I have ruled this incorrectly when umpiring, so don't go and say..."but that wasn't how it was ruled"....

The diagram on page 58 is useful on this BTW.
