I've been thinking about camps, and how much ( or more accurately not) they tend to have an impact on my games. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a camp destroyed, and I'm wondering, am I just playing incorrectly somehow? It always seems like the battle line in a game of MeG is so wide that there is generally never a way to get around it and to the camp in a timely manner (where the game isn't already basically over by the time it happens).similarly if you are doing well enough to break through the line to get to it, the game is also usually about over. That leads me to question, does the game even really benefit from having a camp? Aside from the hobby aspect I mean. Anyone have a different feeling on camps? Do they frequently have an impact on your games?
I think it works pretty well. I've seen camps sacked reasonably often and their sack usually, although not always, contributes to the game not ending well for the owning player. I would certainly not wish to see the ramifications of losing the camp made any more severe.
I'd suggest that the main impact of a camp is that it influences deployment to some degree - how much can depend on the army. This is, IMO, a worthwhile thing to have.

I agree; protecting it, often has an impact on the game and losing it always has a profound impact.
