Havoc on the Hamble! Myths and Legends III
Hi everyone, we are delighted to be able to announce that we are now taking entrants for our third Havoc on the Hamble! Event which will take place at Sarisbury Green Wargames Club on 16th May. As there is limited space again, we would like to give you this opportunity to 'sign-up' for this year's event!!
Please don't be shy in coming forward: to avoid being on the reserves list or missing out completely! Here's a quick summary of the event:
The 'Myths and Legends' theme will be continued. As such, all entrants must include a Legendary army commander, who must be named and must have reasonable justification for their Legendary status, in their list. The majority of 'names' will be known, however, players opting for an unusual Legendary army commander will be required to provide justification for that individual. The date of the army must correspond with the adult life-span of the Legendary character.
Army lists must be approved by Saturday May 2nd and may be submitted any time until Friday 1st May, but once approved, may not be changed or altered. Late submissions and late approvals will be penalised. All list to be sent to i.newell1953@gmail.com
The entrance fee will be held at last year's rate of £17:00 per person. We will again offer three games during the day (arrive 08:30 for a start at 09:00). There will be refreshments and it's still free parking too!
As places are limited, we would encourage you to send your entrance fee through quickly and secure your place. Payments can be made via PayPal (Friends and Family please) using my email address: ian.carbutt@btinternet.com or to my personal bank account. Details upon request.
If you are interested in coming and becoming a 'Legend', or have any questions about the competition, please drop me a line ian.carbutt@btinternet.com soon. For more info about our theme, of 'Myths and Legends' and how to build your army list, contact Ian Newell via i.newell1953@gmail.com.
Most of all, we are looking forward to seeing you there and another great event!
May the dice be with you!

As people have asked for guidance regarding "Legendary" have just posted
Havok on the Hamble – Definition of Legendary
The Oxford Dictionary defines a Legend as ..
1/. Someone described in or based on a character from a 'legend' such as Achilles or King Arthur.
2/. A character who was remarkable enough to be famous or very well known, who accomplished remarkable or outstanding feats.
3/. A character that leaves their mark on history through their deeds, actions or reputation.
For a named character to be 'approved' as Legendary they must
1/. Have left their mark on history through military success (eg Hannibal, Alexander, Julius Caesar, Timur)
2/. Have become a national symbol, with associated myth or statues ... (eg Robert the Bruce, Vercingetorix, Boudica)
3/. Have become a psychological symbol or representation of folk or popular belief. (eg above names).
Finally, please refer to the MeG Army Lists as issued by RJC, an outstanding work which contains histories and historical campaigns and battles. If your proposed legendary character is not mentioned in the appropriate army list, suggest it has a high probability of been rejected
Note : The them for 'Havoc on the Hamble' is "Myths and Legends", hence the Legendary character may be historical or mythical (eg King Arthur, Saint George...)

Well done to Ian and Ian for organising a great event.
Thank you to my opponents, Jason, Dave and Dave. Particular apologies to Jason for my outrageous luck in the first game where I had great cards and great dice - a difficult combination to face...
In the final game I lost 6 TUGs and had a 7th TuG one wound from breaking (my army would have broken!) before I finally won. Chandragupta Maurya would have been proud!
