Hi
In the Later Crusader (5117) list a note for the Military Orders says Order sub generals "..can command other troops as well as their own military order contingent". Maybe I'm overthinking this but I came up with three interpretations of this. Which is right?
a) You can put troops from the main list in the Order general's command but must specify them in your army builder list
b) you can put troops from the main list under an Order general at the time you place generals as with any other troops
c) doesn't mean anything special, just a reminder that professional generals can command troops outside their own command by playing two cards
Contingents are determined when you create your list.
However, in this case the "as well as their own ... contingent" does suggest that you can choose to have them command other troops not defined as within their contingent. It would, IMO, be consistent with how things were actually done at times. Could usefully be made explicit.
I also note that the way this is treated in the Outremer States list for the single military order general which is allowed has different wording and does not mention contingents.

I see the draft 2026 lists clarify this - thanks :-)

Thanks Richard and Nik. I was thinking of this list for Ribble, so I assume I can use this clarry for the 2025 list?
It is clarifying intent so I'd certainly allow it FWIW.
Later Crusader Mix foot requirements might be made clearer too.
"If mixed TuGs of Spearmen and Crossbowmen are taken, then the minimum and maximum number of spearmen is reduced by half the number of bases in the mixed TuGs."
it is rather obscure phrase to understand easely.even Nik had trouble defining it in another post :
"OK, this means that you reduce the Spearmen min and max relative to the number of bases of mixed troops you have taken.
Therefore, for example, if you take 12 bases of mixed TUGs (2x6) the Spearmen minimum is reduced to 6 and the maximum to 26. If you take the maximum of 24 bases of mixed troops the Spearmen minimum is now 0 and the maximum 20.
But the number of bases allowed in the mixed TUGs is the number of Crossbowmen bases, 6-24, as these are the ones that are replaced.
Think I've got it right now :o"
