Title: 2026 Proposed Amendment #4.6 #4.7 Shatter and Shove
Post by: lionheartrjc on August 31, 2025, 08:33:22 PM
See here (https://mortem-et-gloriam.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=3779.0).

This change confirms the rule which has been increasingly played in 2025 tournaments.  A bonus GREEN dice for shatters and a bonus WHITE dice for shoves.
Edit:  This replaces the bonus for neighbouring files.

Richard,

Am I correct in assuming that the bonus die is in addition to the upgrades for neighbouring friendly files? Assuming I am correct, is the bonus die rolled immediately by the file that rolled the shatter/shove so that there is still a benefit even if there are no neighbouring files?

No, the bonus die is instead of the additional claim for neighbouring files.

Ok - I was going to say that seemed fairly dramatic.

Played 12 games using at least 3 units of CL and still waiting to achieve a shatter.

Was hoping when it happened it would be shatttering this doesn't feel like it. Although great if you are on White and get a green bonus or it happens at the end of the line.

You have been remarkably unlucky - are you suggesting it should be easier to get a Shatter (or Shove) result?

 In short no.

Im just not sure of the probabilities but a Green Dice seems less devastating that +2 to each adjacent file.

Although I would have more success with the proposed rule. When I say I have not got a Shatter is the few times I rolled it it's been  on the last file and therefore no one benefited.

The stats show it to be broadly the same - a bit less of an effect where you are already significantly up, but also a bit better if you are significantly down.

+2 takes you

black to green = extra skull and wound
white to yellow = extra skull and wound
green to red = extra skull and wound
yellow to R+W = extra skull and 2 wounds
red to R+G = extra skull and 2 wounds
R+W to R+Y = extra skull and wound
R+G to R+R = extra skull and wound

But you might get this twice, once, or not at all, depending on which file and when it happened. You also increase your chance of propagating the shatter, if it can propagate.

With the new rule you always get an extra skull and 2 wounds.

By the way, am I right in assuming the new version removes the obligation to fight neighbouring files next?

It does.

As for statistics, I ran some (spreadsheet here (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rcJbR5SR770a03RBUt0_x8uxn19WPPc7/view)) and provided one interpretation of my results (doc here (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wb4P9Vbb-hHw-nUUxpRG2VkWxrgYj2g2/edit)).

Best,
Antoine
