Title: infantry charging
Post by: badhabum on August 31, 2025, 02:06:59 PM
Out of practice

INF does not have to charge if faced by cavalry and could reach it . Does the "press forward" count as reaching that cavalry if you first encounter infantry and have a forced charge ?

Yes.  The press forward is part of the charge move.

Note however that the forced charge is determined before any intercept move.  So if the press forward contacts the cavalry only because the cavalry made an intercept move then the forced charge still takes place.

Although IIRC the press forward is not included in the path of charge for shooting at chargers.

The forced charge rule talks about contacting cavalry.  The path of charge is a different concept that affects shooting at chargers.

Yes, just making sure I had remembered it correctly as it's not mentally ergonomic.
