Title: Orbs and defensive shooting

If a Dart armed Legionary TUG in Orb formation (2 bases wide and 3 bases deep) is being charged what defensive shooting dice would it use for each of its four sides? The front and rear would seem to be 2 blacks each but what about the sides would they get 1 Black or none?

Would this change if the TUG was 2 bases wide and 4 bases deep? Would that be 2 blacks to each of the 4 sides?

Usual shooting rules apply. An Orb has no effect on shooting.

(I hate Orb).

So bases shoot in the direction they are facing and with as many ranks as are facing in that direction?

That's what I understood from Richard's reply, that and that he doesn't like Orbs!

I've noticed that Orb is a lot better if you are Impact Weapon Melee Expert than if you are Long Spear or Pike, but it costs the same.

Correct that's why legions are quite good if they have ORB   :)
