Title: Pursuit Distance after Routers
Post by: Hayung_is on November 06, 2024, 05:30:28 AM
Apologies if this is covered, a quick search didn't net me the exact answer. I was taught that pursuers only pursue as far as the routers VMD generally.

So the text in the first figure after 8.B.6 states the 'victorious spartan only pursue 1BW as they hit the slow routers'

However, the text under 8.D.8 A pursuit move stops when:
and lists meeting friends, table edge or terrain.
9. goes on further so specify "unbroken enemy" who may skirmish, run away or stand.

Is there somewhere that clearly explains the pursuit distance when following routers?

You are correct about the normal length of a pursuit move - if nothing else stops it then it will be either the UGs normal move distance or when it hits the troops it is pursuing (whichever comes first).

The other cases when the pursuit stops are to cover if they occur before this pursuit distance is reached.

So the figure is correct but where does it say that in the text (stopping when they catch the routers)?

Apart from it doing so in the diagram text I am not sure it explicitly does to be honest - however, there are no mechanisms that allow pursuers to pass through or around routers.

One to make explicit in any future edition though  ;D

Yeah a minor one, but one to include some explicit text would be good for learners.

its in the original compendium edition, looks like it slipped out of the pdf/demand printing version
