If you take an internal ally do you need to specify in the written list which are 'allied ' UGs, or is it ok to specify this on deployment, as long as you meet the necessary requirements?
I am thinking of tournament situations where you have the one list for a number of games, but could possibly have some flexibility in the allies make up each game.
Convention is that allied units must be specified in the list. I say convention, because that is how it is always played. I am not sure that this is actually written down anywhere (if it is, I cannot find it!).
I have always found the internal ally system slightly unsatisfactory. I would like consideration to be given to allowing internal allies (as opposed to named contingents or external allies) to be mixed in commands, but then not allowing different allied contingents to move as a group. This might better reflect the reality of allied contingents. Such allies would not become unreliable.
