Way too far in advance for me to know whether I could make it :(
The idea is
antiquity from biblical up to 115 BCE + some barbarians such as germans, picts and so on ...
Pike fest
You think pikes may be back in fashion by then?
Not especially. My feeling and hope is that we will some some armies that are becoming "uncommon" . Romans, all melee expert with many sup can reign in such a tournament as LS and pikes do not cancel their melee expert . Hence stop at 115 BCE . Middle republic romans are strong but manageable .
Now I know, Alexander and his companions are not really weak ... ;D
Anyway, we will see .
will do my best to come ... arriving from Paris area most likely friday as in 2019 8)

Hello what details would you like to know?
Hi Jilu ,
Newcomers ask as usual for those who did not come last year , exact location, access methods, suggested Hotels.
You are better than me to give all those details, you live nearby ::)
Small participation from me : I will drive by Car from West of Paris ( France ) on Friday , so may pick some decent players in aiports like Beauvais (France) , Charles de Gaulle ( France) even possibly Charleroi ( Belgium ) on the way up ... just drop a MP if interested 8)
Yes I am an "Old man" and like a beer and a good night sleep before the tournament. ;D

Venue is in Brussels, near metro Delta , near zaventem brussels airport ( 25 minutes ), if by car with a good and free parking . Easy to reach .
We hope to keep prices under 40 euros but include breakfast ( not from a supermarket ) and midday cold meal .

Great!
Some outstanding good news :
In 2020 IWC will be held at the VUB Mandela zaal as promised . So same location, same date, etc...
I will have to find another location for 2021 but that is also arranged .
In short the VUB allowed us one more year at the old price .
Hi to all
Will the Asian lists be eligible for the tournament in Brussels?
It was open last year I think so probably.

Can't think why they shouldn't unless a geographical theme is desired as opposed to open between certain dates.
IWC was never an open tournament but a themed one this was 2019's theme
QuoteLists : Africa up to 1100 CE +all Early medieval ists Arabia, Byzantium, Frankia, Britain et Steppes
Army size 10000 points
Registration valid upon paiement and sending of the lists before 12/01/19
FEES 38 € by paypal to jeanluc.vanloo@gmail.com mentionning 1st name, name + IWC2019 or pay 45 euros at the venue
This includes breakfast and lunch
Lists are to be sent to almegajw@gmail.com
Now for january 2020 it is all books till 115 BCE
will we be using the 2020 updates and lists?
I'd suggest picking a cut off date say 4 weeks before the event and saying what is officially released at that point will be used. Avoids last minute scrabbling around.

Much as I normally agree with Nik. On this one I dont. If all the changes are to be implemented on Jan 1st as opposed to being made available in December, Its going to be very difficult to have been implementing changes in your thoughts and deeds and then revert back to 2019 rules. I suggest the opposite use any of those suggested lists and amendments implemented from Jan 1st. Otherwise ??? Also it might put people off going. Playing 2019 rules which are officially not official any more !!!
Just sayin :)
I did sent a message to Simon asking if changes could be published on the 1st december I wait

There are two answers to the question really:
a) all changes will be long done by Dec 1st and made available - fixed end October in my mind to seal it.
b) the book will not be printed in time for that.
So can go either way.

We will use the actual rules and army lists as the new ones might be a bit late .People like stability .
For information, the 2020 Army Lists should be available onliine around 20th November 2019. All list sets have already been drafted and are currently being reviewed.
Although it is for Simon to decide, I believe the rule changes for 2020 have also been agreed and see no reason why they should not be available at the same time.

YAY !
I will check with the french players at the Rueil Tournament .
ALREADY 16 PLAYERS FOR IWC2020 ...Well 18 counting me and Simon who has some difficulties registering.
So the T3 site blocks at 18 entries so all other players should sent me an email and pay the fees as soon as possible . The army list choice is to be sent to me around 15th decembre till 12th january .
My email : almegajw@gmail.com
We will meet with the french players at the Rueil tournamentand discuss is we play the new version or the old version depending on the availability date .
Several I think to enter from the UK. Is there a maximum ? I think if 2020 clarifications and lists are out in December it would be a good idea to use them. Just my opinion
Once the first 18 are registered, the T3 system stop all other subscription but sent me an email so I can keep track of it .
Wich version to use : Most French players do want more stability. so we will discuss it next week as we go to France for a tournament. Their opinion is primordial.
How do we pay? I could find that on the site
See Badhabums post circa 3 up.

We will be 32 players ( perhaps more ) for IWC2020 . Breakast and lunch are included . But it is possible for us to go to a local libanese restaurant . Last year UK players went there with me . If many players would like to go, I might be able to discuss something with the owner . It is easy to reach. With the metro next to it and 15-20 minutes from the city center . People should contact me if they want to go . Here is the link to the restaurant site. It is in french but the menu is also in english.

Yes. It was great last year.
It does not have the competition details on the first post. I understand it's up to 115BC. I will assume that that's any pdf as I can not see anything to the contrary.
So its confirmed any 2020 pdf published on or before 10th December 2019 up to 115 BC
OK
ALL LISTS BEFORE 115 BCE.
ALL INFOS ON T3 SITE
Now if and only if the new erratas and the new rules are published BEFORE 1st december, we will use the new modified rules and the new lists ...that's a modification OK . Why : some players wanted to have time to test the modified rules and army lists.
Sorry if I did not adapt sooner but in Belgium there is one and only one tournament organiser ...and it is me .
All good Jacques.
I have even started looking at some armies.
Si
Hy all players.
As the updates and new army lists are available, we will use them for IWC2020.
All lists are to be sent before the tournament as soon as possible so I can arrange everything . Breakfast is included ( viennoiseries - not industrial - + coffee ) and midday ( sandwiches ) . Belgian beers will be available and monks will serve you . It is a LARP group ( my group ) so please, help them by buying some drinks. Beware a drink is 1 or 2 euros 8)
Now I will need the help of the MEG ambassadors . I have an arrangement with a Lebanese restaurant " Paradis du Liban" which is rather easy to reach . We can all go to eat together at the restaurant for something around 20-25 euros drinks not included . The local mezze is good and it is what is proposed . Vegetarian available if asked before or other if I am told off before . If I could have an answer by end december it would be appreciated . All problems have a solution .
https://paradisduliban.be/notre-carte-1.html
For the tournament, groups will be prepared so no greek will meet a greek on saturday and so on ...The sooner I have the lists, the sooner you will know who and what you meet .

I will do the same later this week.

I also have one reserve player ( in cas of uneven numbers ) and perhaps a full newbie ..so 35-36 but I fear some people will have to cancel ..it always happens 8)

For the paiement please we did not check the last 2 weeks ...

A truly impressive international field.
I really hope I get to play one or more of the Greek players. I am really interested to see if there is a different style of play: I hope so,'so I can incorporate some new nuances into my own play :D
We use a computer program to run the tournament .The players will be organised in 4 "groups" BE/FR/GK/UK and the program will ensure UK does not encounter UK on day 1, but will encounter FR/BE or GK . I'll do my best for sunday morning but last game is by points only !
I will keep my fingers crossed ;D
Having had a ponder I thought I would try a loose order foot army and see if the new PBS does what I am hoping to give them a chance. An old favourite. ANCIENT BRITONS.

Hi Jacques,
I got the confirmation from work, I will not be able to attend again.
So sad missing the event.
Hi Simon,
The tournament is biblical up to 115 bce is memory serves me right.
Ancient British would not be legal.
Well we have had a small discussion here .
We will accept two more list before they drift away :
Ancient Briton and Scots-Irish as they are so similar to gallic or early germans. UK players might just want to play them out of patriotism 8)
But that's it .
If someone wants to switch to one of these armies he may .
Strange decision!! Why are you adding armies out of the time frame ? Thought the cut off date was 115BC.Ancient Brits is 60BC !!! Has something changed. Has it increased to any classical list ?

+1, why adding the two lists above and not adding the PONTIC list in this case??
PUNCH
Late Ptolemaic would be good. Incidentally the published dates for this list is wrong
Because Gallic, Germans and britons + scots Irish are really so similar . I was already toying with the idea to add therm to the possible armies but never found time to write it . In 115 BCE, britons and Scots-irish did already exist but for a reason or another they do not appear in our history books . I am convinced that their fighting style has not been modified by external causes .In 120 BCE they fought as in 70 BCE...
Late Ptolemaic is pretty different. They are an evolution of the Ptolemaic . So they exist in 115 BCE under another form called simply Ptolemaic .
Why not PONTIC : the list is the army of Mithridates VI as he build it to confront Rome and so is IMO a special case . His wars with Rome begin around 100 BCE.
So you have my reasons . No I was not bribed, nor promised anything.
So those 2 armies are out of frame, yes but compare Gallic and British they are near the same .
I just wanted to allow more barbarian armies are so few of them are played and they do feel "in the theme" to me . Does that really bother you ?

Hy,
Still some lists missing mainly UK and France .
Please do not sent everything on saturday .
Those who have sent a list that I corrected have always received an answer .
You got no message from me, then I did not receive your list ?
Please be original
Lists sent in for Robin Spence and Laurence Donohoe this morning.
Must be getting close.
Si
For discussion about tournaments : Most players sent a list with just a partial list name . Those people should imagine how uneasy it is if 5 players choose the same army ( yes it happens ) . So asking players to write their name on their saved file is necessary . Also people forget that if they sent a list at the last possible moment and the list is incorrect, it will be refused and there you go again, asking a new list from the player who might take his time to answer .
This morning I received a list with a mistake, so resent it asking for a valid list ... I think I miss 2 lists have to check .
So I have all the lists and wait for some news about 2 uncertain players, Simon amongst them, in order to fix the battles.
So what do we have :
Dian tribes ( look for the chinese )
Early Carthaginian X 2
Early Royal achaemenid Persian X 4
Early seleucid X 3
Seleucid
Galatian
Graeco Bactrian X 3
Highland Gallic
Neo Assyrian
Minoan
Late Achaemenid Persian ( that's me )
Late carthaginians in spain X 2
Lowland Gallics
Lowland Thracians
Samnites
Later Sargonid Assyrian
Later Macedonian
The 5 Hegemon
Qin X 3
Yuezhi
Mid Republican Roman X 5 ( 3 in spain the others in greece/asia )
I think I forgot no one .
No civil war on turn one
One small change for the seleucid

The question has been asked if concerning the Qin army, the special rules concerning "throwing away your armor to run quickly" ans so gain fleet of foot should be decided for the whole tournament or per game. It is PER GAME but Qin players should remind their opponents of the rule, game per game.
Do we have the list dates of each army
If I have time and more if I find more time also the name of the lady of the general and the army composition 8)
I will try

That would be good. Photos as well perhaps.
Hi All
I was bringing a hi res camera to take some good photos. If anyone can bring one and players who finish early can try to get some nice figure shots with minimal clutter in hi res then we may be able to use them in the compendium.
Have a great tine one and all. Gutted to not be coming over :( but equally relieved to be getting somewhere with Mags condition. More news when we know some answers. A few worrying things crossed of the list today. :)

Will go with the h and have a beer please 🤔👍
Correction done and beer in the fridge but I will have one too
Someone has pointed out there may be a slight inconsistency in language which I am fixing.
DEEP WATER SECURE FLANK IS STILL A COASTLINE OR RIVER ALL ACROSS THE FLANK.
General term used as someone mentioned as I had rivers that were fordable on the sheet someone claimed they could flank march... tried to make lawyer tight!
Enjoy the comp. Wish I was there!

Interesting round 3
What happened? All in brawl with no one left standing?
No There is no internet where we play and utter exhaution ... recuparating and not being a computer fan ...later in the day ...
Some of the funny facts
Most UK players used "BC" and non-UK players "BCE" when specifying the date
One army list contained a very obvious mistake but 3 successive list checkers missed it . On the list all was correct except that ...it was cavalry and in the excel the chosen type was "infantry" ...
Great weekend, big thanks to Jacques and the Larp group for all the organisation.
Special thanks to my 4 opponents Christoforos, Olivier, Ian (club mate) and my good friend Gilles.
Really enjoyed going out and about in Brussels with Robin, Laurence, Ray, Ian, Jason and Steve, good memories, will be back again next year
A quote from my club mate Geoff Pearson, whom I run tournaments with
'So Peter and Ian travel 500 miles to play each other when they live 5 miles apart. The fickle finger of the draw strikes again 😂'
All good fun in gaming
Best Regards to all
Peter
the results ?
In the Tournament Results sub-forum :D

All was clear from the beginning :
Round 1 : by pool and no civil war .
Round 2 by results and by pool so players from the same club/Nationality would not meet each other but civil war possible.
Rounds 3 & 4 : for hard core competitors : swiss system only !
We had a great lads weekend in Brussels. Jacques and his team are very hospitable. It's REALLY easy to get to Brussels on Eurostar.
At the event I had 4 great games against 4 non Brits, all of whom were good MeG players who performed well at the event. That to me is a great wargaming experience. I'd like to think I made some new friends.
Thanks to Georgios, Bernard, Jean-Luc and Ioannis for four fantastic games of MeG
Beer was excellent and dangerous.
I'll be back next year if the lads are up for it and the politicians don't fuck it up.
Happy Days.
Ray
By the way, we always played more than 3 hours and the last game more than 03:30 was allowed if you began early enough ...
