Title: Draft Chinese Lists
Post by: martymagnificent on November 13, 2023, 10:03:37 PM
Just like to take the chance to say, as the owner of several Chinese armies, I'm very pleased with the draft 2024 changes

It is actually possible to write a playable list for Early Zhou, without an external ally
The strange 'double melee' capability of some chariots is gone
Superior shoot and charge chariots are, slightly, cheaper
The new Ming lists are both more nuanced and more interesting

Looking forward to giving them a go

Thanks

Martin

I'd have thought the Gansidui alone should sell the changes  ;)

Only 6 bases but I think I will try to get them in pretty much every list.

Mixed units are also a win.

Big change to warwagons in later list. No polearm and combat shy. Matched with suitably big points reduction. I think, on balance, I probably prefer the new option.

I haven't found a change I don't like yet.

I've now had games with Early Zhou, Five Hegemons and Ming.

Like the changes. More historical, at least IMHO, and more usable.

I've also had a game to try out the new SSP CFP Jvln 'barbarian' types (using Celtiberian). Was a non-historical match up against an all mounted opponent, but definitely significantly stronger in that context.

Thanks for the further feedback, always nice to hear how players are finding amendments.
