Title: Artillery SuGs
Post by: LawrenceG on September 24, 2023, 02:31:20 PM
(pdf 13.D.3)

What exactly is a "pivot behind barricades"?

As far as I can see, artillery are pushed back by enemy TUGs that would contact them with a first move in the  movement phase. Or does 13.D.3 prohibit this on the basis that it would be "movement by artillery" not done with an M15?

The UG is defending the barricade but doesn't have to face perpendicular to the line of the barricade.  It can change the direction it is facing.  SuGs are not pushed back by enemy TuGs if they are defending obstacles or barricades (see Appendix entries for Barricades and Obstacles).

All moves with artillery require a RED M15 to move which may be a move directly ahead, [not a change of direction]

a wheel [a rigid body rotation forward about a front corner],
pivot behind barricades [any other rigid body rotation forward or backward about any point, which could be inside or outside the SUG ?],
a turn 90° [4.D.10.1 ]
or a turn 180° [4.D.10.2].

Sorry, I didn't make it clear the second part of the question was about  artillery SUGs not defending barricades (i.e. in a situation where any other SUG would be pushed back). However, I infer from your answer that they can be pushed back.

Artillery can be pushed back and their opponent may have a KAB test on them if they exceed their maximum movement distance.
