Title: 28mm basing idea
Post by: drwiktor on August 07, 2023, 01:41:17 PM
Hi, as 60mm BW fits mostly for old 25mm minis is it possible to patch rules to lets say 80mm? People are really struggling with basing, putting 3 infantry instead of 4, 2 cavalry instead of 3 etc.  60mm/4 close formation is 15mm per figure. Its really messy and little bit outdated.
For example quite ok basing from HC > 20x20 infantry, 50x25 cavalry. 60/4 close formation is 15mm per figure.  People with existing armies could rebase/sabot units. It would be much more approachable for new players.

Using fewer figures on a base isn't an issue - if, for example, 4 don't fit just use 3.

It happens with 15mm as well - none of my Close formation cavalry have 4 to a base, I use 3  8)

80mm basing would introduce its own problems with table size, particularly for Magna games.

Increasing the depth of bases, rather than their width, and staggering the figures is another option. I have done that for my 28mm Victrix and 15mm Khurasan cavalry.
