Reading the Tupi (6108) and Gé Brazilian (6107) lists, I was struck by a line in the Troop Notes section (emphasis mine):
Quote from: Lists-61-South America, pg.22The Tupi fought in a solid mass with bows, shields, and two-handed wooden swords and clubs. Some were reported charging like bulls.
That "charging like bulls" bit hit me kinda' weird, as it is not the Tupi, but their only (non-Tupi) historical enemy-- the Gé Brazilians (specifically the Aimoré tribe)-- who have access to the Devastating Chargers characteristic on their warriors.
(Even when facing non-Aimoré Gé, charging Tupi are at a
very mild advantage considering the bloodbath of green dice that is unprotected 0-claim shoot-and-charge hitting unprotected 0-claim standing archers.)
Is there any chance that Tupi warriors could be given access to Devastating Chargers as an optional characteristic in the 2024 updates? (Or am I just reading too much into the Troop Notes section?)
The error is really in the Aimoré list. Where they have DC they should lose the bow. This was an early classification. The regrade represents guerilla and raids they made. To be honest the fleet of foot - shoot and charge is a better classification for these too . Missile focussed DCs are very generous ! This does go back to the original list. I guess they just slipped through
As an aside Aimoré is somewhat pejorative, and would be better Gueren-Gueren and Cariri.
As for not being at an advantage shoot and charge does go first and Tupi have melee expert - so are marginally better than other Gé especially the Waitacá who were equally fierce
Whoops, I did not mean to cost the Ge the only unit that made the army worth bothering with! : P
(As a side-note, to be taken with a month's supply of grains of salt, shoot-and-charge without DC or something for Gueren-Gueren/Cariri raiders would be a bit of an awkward classification; charging either of their non-Ge historical enemies using that classification would pretty much be unproductive suicide— especially against the Inca!)
Thank you for having taken a look at these lists! (And for correcting my use of nomenclature!!!)
