Title: Long Spears and Devastating Chargers
Post by: Dirkhrod on May 22, 2023, 07:14:35 AM
Hi all,

I have a question regarding Long Spears and Devastating Chargers. I was looking at the Medieval Frisian list and noticed troops that have the LSp and Dev Chargers combination and was wondering if they can be used together in the situation where they are not charging.

If the unit has not declared a charge (either because it was not compulsory or because it was held), and is charged by cavalry, it still has its Devastating Chargers bonus, but can combine with the defensive bonus for LSp where it denies the cavalry's charging lancers and devastating chargers bonus ? Basically it would have +3 against cavalry (+1 from Dev Ch, +2 from LSp) and the cavalry would not be able to use its own bonuses ?

Many Thanks,
Dan

Yes, all the claims apply - but as they are also Combat Shy they would in effect be net +2 against cavalry, and just +1 against Charging Lancers (in Good Going) or nellies as DC does not count against them.

They're an interesting troop type, and Cid has used them to effect.
