I understand that mounted units which have the dismountable option that has been paid for can start the game dismounted during deployment at the owning player's option.
I understand that any mounted can dismount if they are within 6 base widths of a fortified camp/obstacles and such. In that case they would be penalized as combat shy.
IS IT the case that mounted units that have paid for the dismountable option can dismount whenever they wish using a colored card or are there some limitations I have NOT found in the rules?
Thanks, in advance for your help.

They dismount as either what is defined in the army list or as defined in Appendix 1 U3 of the PDF.

Per the PDF, Appendix 1 U1
"Dismounting for both types requires a YELLOW in the movement phase and is not possible if any part of the UG is in combat. UGs with the dismountable characteristic cannot dismount and move in the same phase."
There is no distance from enemy UG's involved in a prompted dismount?
Only the within 6 BW one for mounted who do not have the Dismountable characteristic.
memory lapse... :
"knights dismount as Formed Close, Average, Fully Armoured, 2-H Cut & Crush (or Poor if downgraded to Poor)".
If this is stated in the lists, do they get melee expert if they paid for it mounted?
thx
No.
