Hmm... Am I mistaken in seeing a trend towards later period armies now? I am not speaking of this one tournament either. I don't seem to see many Roman, Greek or Macedonian armies in open competitions anymore but I do see a lot of medieval armies.

In open competitions there does seem to be a trend to medieval armies.

Should we read anything in to this? Is it happenstance or a game bias towards the later armies? I find it interesting that we refer to our game generically as 'Ancients' yet we seldom field 'ancient' armies. I am not trying to be a troll because I do not own any BCE forces myself. I am just curious.

I don't think so. A wide range of Medieval armies are being taken, not just one type.

Of the 23 armies dated after 1100 CE, 18 can have Fully Armoured troops and/or Powerbow. I suggest that might be what is attracting players.
