Hy so those English armies may have mixed TUGs of longbowmen one rank with melee expert and PB and one with PB .
Up to 6 bases ( one mixed groupe ) are "best LB and drilled loose )
Up to 48 bases are "common PB " formed loose
Now there is in both armies a line that says that your may replace mixed TUGS with longbowmen and so have formed loose longbowmen everywhere
So that does apply to the 48 "commoners" BUT does it also apply to the best drilled ones ? and so allow a max of 54 "commoners" or does that line apply only to the "commoners"
As I read it both interpretations are valid
It applies to both (mixed TuGs are mixed TuGs....).
Actually you can have up to 12 bases of retinue (6 front rank, = numbers of rear), so you could have 60 unmixed longbowmen (at no point do the lists talk about commoners...).
