Just a little clarification for me please, as I may well be blind to the obvious. In the Later Carthaginian list where it says, "Gallic or Ligurian foot (not in Spain)". Does that mean that both Gallic and Ligurian foot, or only Ligurian foot? While I see the difficulty for Ligurian foot in Spain, Gallic foot would be a different kettle of fish.
thanks for any help.
Regards,
Both.
If there is evidence for use of Gauls by Carthaginian armies in Spain, please let me know.

Ta, thanks for the response.
I have found that 700 Ligurian mercenaries were used in Spain at the start of the 2nd Punic War!

I was wondering : looking for more info about the LUSITANIAN SPANISH ( you know the guys for whom I asked the allowance of short spear ) I found a small study which states :
QuoteDuring the Punic wars, the Lusitanians (along with the Celtiberians, another major tribe from Iberia) fought on the Carthaginian side as mercenaries.
There is no historical source mentioned
Do you have more info about those Lusitanians that were used as mercenaries because none are available in Carthaginian lists, early or late ( as mercenaries or allies )
I find Celtinberians, even scutarii that are impact weapons but no Lusitanians
