Hi,
I'm looking at the Kingdom of the Isles list (Kings in the North) and trying to understand the Charge only (power) bow the Highlanders in it have. Am I correct in assuming that:
- the one rank of ceithern with bow shoot 1 color down because it is only 1 rank?
- these archers still fight the same as their non-shooting friends in the same TuG?
- the only added value of choosing powerbow is that it goes up one color against some opponents, thereby accidentally compensating for the one color down caused by the fact it is only one rank?
- neither the 4BW range of normal bows, nor the 5BW range of powerbows is relevant here, as the only range that counts is the 3BW charge range of this infantry unit?
- the shooting here is like in Shoot & charge, so only when charging, and NOT when being charged?
Cheers
Huub
I think you are right but still no official answers :)
Seems a expensive powerbow
Yup, that was my point. Is it even worth the expense?
The extra effectiveness against cavalry might be worth it. That said, would longbows used by Highlanders have made that much difference. You pay your points and you takes your choice.

A follow-up question comes to mind:
If it is a specific row in the TUG, does that mean I could lose the option to shoot when bases in that row get killed?

Yes! The dead don't shoot in MeG... (you need the fantasy version...)
;D
Haha, indeed! I asked because I was wondering how concrete that row was, or if it perhaps was just a symbolic representation of guys a with bows actually mixed in all over the TUG....
Is it actually a front row (that can only shoot when it is indeed the front row)? In that sense it would be different from 'Shoot and charge'...
There is no restriction in which row the bow are placed. It makes sense to put them in the rear rank where they are least likely to be killed.

Wonderful!
worth noting the 'charge only' bow type allows shooting when charging or being charged, p214 of the rule book.

Indeed, but a range of 5BW as opposed to 4BW doesn't help if being charged.

but it does it you thought you had to be charging to be able to fire at any incoming enemy, esp cavalry
It does indeed!
