Title: Question on MF1 Moves
Post by: Stephen T on August 29, 2022, 06:22:18 PM
In our last game a question arose about MF1 moves.  Do you have to move to a single different file, or are you allowed to move unengaged elements to different files.  So could some elements fill a gap while others move to fight supporting files or does that require two MF1 moves?  Also are the second rank of close infantry fighting loose infantry in good going engaged as they provide shove?  Thanks.

You can move any number of unengaged bases to a single file.  This is very clear.  "Move unengaged bases to single different file".

The definition of "engaged" in the glossary on page 215 includes "...creating a benefit in the fight via a characteristic such as shieldwall ...". As the second rank is providing one through Shove I think it counts as engaged.

Is correct and as intended.
