A unit if warband was in melee with a unit of legion. The legion was charged by fresh enemy and broke; (2.7). The warband pursued and contacted a further legion (2.8)
Question : when is this new combat resolved ?
My understanding is that if a charging unit breaks an opponent if may pursue in the direction of the charge, and if it contacts new enemy this is resolved immediately (ie still 2.7 and is an impact combat). In the above scenario, the warband was not charging, but has to pursue .... so when making contact with fresh enemy is it a charge impact to resolved that turn; or is the combat not resolved until the following turn
The Pursuit Moves on Page 167 cover the situation in C 9.
"If a new enemy is contacted:
9.1. If this has occurred during the charge phase fight a further charge combat immediately,
9.2. Otherwise fight in the next charge phase."
Whether the pursuing unit charged or not is not a factor.
