I've been playing with a friend, I play imperial romans and he usually sassanid persian... I would like to build a second army to add some variety, so I'm looking for an army which:
- is an historical enemy of sassanid persian;
- is different enough from imperial romans, and makes for a nice game against sassanids (balanced and fun :) );
I'm looking into kushan/indian, but I'm open to suggestions :) .
Listed historical enemies of the Middle Sasanids (although Early Sasanid is also an historical enemy for Imperial Romans) are:
Alan; Hunnic; Imperial Roman; Foederate Roman; Kushan or Indo-Scythian; Hephthalite; Armenian; Later Pre-Islamic Bedouin; Southern Pre-Islamic Arabian; Eastern Later Roman;

In addition to the Kushan you mention, Hephthalite have similarities but some useful difference and having done well with it recently I'd also mention Hunnic. As (mainly) cavalry armies they'll be quite different from Imperial Roman.
