Title: Naval ruleset with a complimentary points system
Post by: pynner10 on April 16, 2022, 02:45:33 PM
Hi all, I am setting up a campaign that has mixed naval and land army elements. I am looking for a a naval ruleset that would fit nicely into the MeG points system. I did some searching and found this free one  http://ermtony.pbworks.com/w/page/14871389/De%20Bellis%20Navalibus (http://ermtony.pbworks.com/w/page/14871389/De%20Bellis%20Navalibus) which is ok as a ruleset, but doesn't really have a point setup.

The more commercial products I looked at seemed pretty old and mostly out of print, and also didn't mention how the points system worked.

Was hoping some of the folks on here may have thoughts or ideas on what might work best to mix in to a MeG campaign.

Thanks,

I developed a version of MeG Pacto for naval games.

Essentially a base represented a squadron of ships.

The best trained crews were Drilled, others were Formed.  Loose, Protected.  Biremes were Fleet of Foot.
Shooters were unskilled, artillery for the largest ships, bow for smaller ships.
Romans with Corvus were melee expert.

Currents/winds could impose a 1BW movement penalty.  Islands clearly were impassable terrain.

The MeG points system can then be applied.

That will work perfectly, and has the added bonus of not having to learn a new ruleset. Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like a nice supplement...
