I just wanted to be sure I read the rule correctly :
PG 159, point 6
"some shooters do not get a dice upgrade, but instead cause a wound on S results on a WHITE dice. Crossbows standing to receive a charge get this bonus, as do skilled shooters vs a superior target"
The important word that I often overlooked is "WHITE"
So if the crossbowmen receiving a charge shoot in black ( vs armoured horses ) or green (if skilled vs average charging units ) the "S" does not cause a wound !
Same for some skilled shooters one rank deep that downgrade their shooting to black !
Interesting
You obviously have not read the clarries ;)
"SHOOTING DICE Amend Page 159 G6 to "Some shooters (in addition to any dice upgrade they may get), cause a wound on S results in addition to kills from Skulls and wounds from Xs. Foot crossbows standing to receive a charge get this bonus, as do skilled shooters vs. a superior target." In the left-hand column of the Die Colour For Shooting table delete "(WHITE+)". [Note From SAH - the "do not" only applied to white and was not intended to exclude better shooters]."
Ok so next part of the question :
The black dice is a fireweapon !
Does "S" become a wound or does "S" inflict a wound AND a slow which would be more than an upgrade but added effect and make it more potent than a wound !
On a White+. the S inflicts a wound and a slow effect.
If a dice that would be a White+ is downgraded to a Black+ the S will inflict a wound and a slow effect.
If a dice that would be a White+ is upgraded to a Green+ the S will inflict a wound and a slow effect.
Before you ask
If a dice that would be a White+ is double downgraded, then it only causes a slow effect. (Unskilled crossbows receiving a charge in one rank). This is because shooting below black only causes slowing effects.
If a dice that would be a White+ is double upgraded, (Skilled crossbows receiving a charge in two ranks, from unprotected) the an S will inflict a wound and a slow effect.
Firearms cause additional Slows.
A Skilled Firearm shooting at a Superior getting an S result, causes a wound, generates an automatic slow of 1 and creates a slowing effect.
By slowing effect I mean the usual cumulative total of non-blank results resulting in a slow depending upon the frontage of the target UG. An automatic slow is a slow created by firearms and added to any slowing effect.
Don't think I can be more comprehensive than that.

Perhaps if you explained that it does not matter to the results if you throw left- or right-handed or use a dice-cup or tower.
:-\ ??? :o
