In a game yesterday evening my opponent and I had one of those moments when we suddenly forgot how we had been doing something for ages and had to look up the rules (probably an age thing).
The rule in question was in respect of when the die roll for moving/removing each terrain piece occurs. After discussion we remembered we had been following what we thought was the sequence laid out in the example at the top of p.68 in the Compendium regarding a Gaul v Roman battle in that the opponent (Roman) rolls for each hill placed by the Gaul player immediately after it is put down.
Looking at the rules laid out on pagers 66 and 67 however they seems to indicate that all the terrain pieces should be placed (in step 4) before the terrain adjustment rolls takes place (in step 5). The QRS seems to be in line with this method as the line regarding terrain adjustment, which appears at the end of the "Other Terrain Placement" section starts with the word "Then..." which, in normal English usage, indicates afterwards.
Anyway, having reminded ourselves of how we had been doing it, we carried on rolling for each piece as it went down. The question is have we been doing it right?
You roll for each terrain piece immediately after it is placed.
If you look at the rules on page 66/67 points 2. to 5. are repeated for each terrain piece.
So you have been playing it correctly. (Certainly the intention and the way it is played in every competition).

Thanks Richard it is as we thought.
I think our confusion revolves around the p.67 wording as it doesn't exactly say in step 6 that steps 2-5 are repeated "per terrain piece". A clarification may be helpful, basically because why not. Ideally a sentence at the end of step 3 to say something like "Then for each compulsory and optional terrain piece repeat the following steps 4 and 5."
