Hi,
Just discovered during a game that a C1 SUG move to allow a charge, is not possible with an inf SUG if screening a 2BW deep TUG (like 4 ranks Pike, 2 ranks CH/EL,...) because of the 1 BW reduction in speed during the 180 turn (M10).
So SUGs can only 'retire' through 3 ranks of inf or less.
Is this blocking of SUGs intentional ?
Thx for your clarification
to be more precise :
The problem was retiring a SUG trough 2 rank deep nellies before charges.
A SUG moves 4 MU, turns 180° but has only 3 MU left or not enough distance to make a prompted move through the 2 rank deep nellies ( Themselves being 2 BW deep and the SK being 1,5 BW deep .
The problem is it has spacebehind the nellies but not the move distance to go trough the nellies during a prompted action but how do you interpret "if they have the distance" ? To me it was you need enough movement distance to go trough the nellies as opposed to the skirmishing outcome moves that states that even if you enter partially in a UG you pass trough that UG .
indeed, but thus not only nellies but also any 4 rank deep inf, like pikes or 2 ranks of Chariots
Unless of course the skirmishers are deployed 2 deep.

I believe so.
As Richard says there are alternative choices of course, these may involve some compromises but that is part of the game :D
I think Ambiorix wants to have a straight answer 8) but from the answers it is clear you cannot go through a UG during a PROMPTED move if you have not the distance to completely go through as opposed to a running away move be it SK or fleeing
Correct. So screens are better wide and thin ... which makes sense. And extra deep formations like 2 deep elliesmake it difficult and i am ok with that too. Si
