Since Ice and Fire, about 150 odd posts on the WhatsApp forum have concerned lists. I thought I would give a brief summary of what was discussed and my reaction to the comments.
1. One concern that was expressed was that shooty cavalry armies are too powerful (for the points). The counter-argument is that a) they take skill to play and b) the best counter to shooty cavalry armies is skirmishers and many players don't seem to take skirmishers.
2. A second point raised was that the lists change on a yearly basis and that puts some people off. The counter-argument is that it allows errors to be corrected. In fact the list changes this year were very minor indeed with the exception of about 10 (out of 625) lists. We don't change lists to make them "interesting". The changes are made to try and give the correct historical feel. I actually think we have reached the point where changes to the lists will continue to be rarer.
3. People asked about an online army builder (pick your units from a drop-down and characteristics and it automatically calculates points). The information is in database form so that this is technically possible. The challenge is that due to the complexities of the MeG system - it isn't easy. I have created an Excel version of this, but you need to be a confident Excel user to use it. Any app guru who wants to do this will have my full support.
4. A comment on the rules was made about the fact that chargers cannot move after they have charged but evaders can do their 2BW moves (ahead and/or turn 180). Can I comment that a) chargers can choose their direction and can then choose to follow the evaders. So chargers do get some choice. Forced chargers don't play a card to charge but evaders always have to play a card to move after their evade. So it is not as quite as unbalanced as it is sometimes portrayed.

A good counter to shooty cavalry is having your own shooters, who'd have thunk it - well apart from anyone who has looked at the history that is ;) ;D 8)
I'd add that any infantry bows/crossbows are dead useful as I think I demonstrated last weekend, and indeed you may well have done too :D
.... and I'd add that shooty cavalry aren't necessarily that easy to use.... as I demonstrated over the weekend

IMO there are too many skilled shooters but you are correct that people should use skirmishers but some armies ( western europe armies ) are sometimes quite poor on skirmishers 8) as they wanted to fight in a "manly way" and facing a horde can be difficult with a viking army 8)
