Title: Trojan Horse
Post by: Ambiorix on January 02, 2022, 03:11:06 PM
Hello, just got the 3D print of the Trojan Horse and am contemplating of fielding it. The wheeled platform exactly fits on to 1 Battlewagon base, while another such base could be used for the oxen or persons dragging it with rope, so basically 2 Battlewagon bases in total (in column).

However, the list depicts it differently with the following special rule :

"The Wooden horse is depicted on a base 2BW x 2BW. It is treated as a Battlewagon TuG with 2 elements. It fights as a Battlewagon TuG in column. It can turn 90 degrees with an M9 action"

Can you elaborate a bit further on this special rule, does this means it :
-   Fights as column in all circumstances?
-   Shoots from all 4 sides ?
If above is all true than don't understand why specifically the 90 degree turn is mentioned.
Quid if it has a casualty, does the 2x2BW remain intact until an extra 3rd wound, destroying it ?

Of course, an alternative could be to get rid of the special rule and treat it as 2 normal Battlewagon bases.
I realize the Horse is just a gimmick and is in no way comparable to 'real' battlewagons...  8)

The  significance of column is that it can only shoot from its long edge (i.e. it sides, not its front or rear).  Otherwise it has no real significance.
Yes - it takes 3 wounds to remove the wooden horse.

I would have thought it would make more sense as dismountable infantry with suitably heroic stats.

An option for a scenario game perhaps!

Maybe an infantry unit with the ability to ambush while visible to the enemy?

But what about fighting to the front does it have barricades to the front ?

Turning theTrojan Horse into a fighting unit is very, very silly. If you can't live withou one on the table  permit Achaean players to bring it as baggage and force their opponents to use it.

"If attached while in column, they count the Barricades characteristic."  (page 118).

The Trojan Horse may have been some sort of siege engine.   The list is semi-mythical anyway.  Relax....
